This article explains how to reset the Most Recently Used (MRU) Template folder that Microsoft Visio 2002 defaults to at startup.

Microsoft Visio 2002 remembers, at startup, the last folder that you accessed from the opening screen.

Resetting the MRU Template Folder at Startup

To reset the MRU Template folder at startup, follow these steps:
  1. Start Visio.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Advanced tab.
  3. Under User settings, click to select the Put all settings in Windows registry check box, and then click OK.
  4. Quit Visio.
  5. Start Visio, and then quit Visio again.

    Visio writes its settings to the Windows registry.
  6. Click Start, and then click Run.
  7. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  8. Locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Visio\application\MruTemplateFolder

  9. Double-click the Value name MruTemplateFolder, and then delete the Value data.
  10. Click OK.
  11. On the Registry menu, click Exit.

    The Registry Editor automatically saves the change.
