Access Violation Occurs in Your Firewall Client When It Is Under a High Load and Is Using WSPAD (295388)

SYMPTOMS

When the firewall client is set for automatic discovery of Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server, if two or more simultaneous requests for creation of sockets are generated by a program or programs on the client computer, an access violation error message may occur in Wspwsp.dll.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next ISA server service pack that contains this hotfix.

To resolve this problem:
  1. Install the hotfix on the ISA Server computer.
  2. Run the client installation by using any of the following methods:
    • Run Setup.exe again from the share point on the ISA Server (\\ISA Server computer name\Mspclnt\Setup.exe), and then choose the Repair option.
    • Remove and install again.
    • Re-deploy by using group policy.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
