ENT2001: How Entourage Handles Hyperlinks (295304)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q295304 SYMPTOMS
When you send a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) message that contains a Uniform Resource Locator (URL), the text of the hyperlink that is associated with the URL does not appear as an active item when you type it. In addition, the hyperlink does not appear active when received.
CAUSE
Entourage does not support Complex HTML.
RESOLUTION
Send messages with hyperlinks in Plain Text format.
MORE INFORMATION
Because of the limitations of its HTML editor, Entourage sends the URL as text without any additional formatting. For a hyperlink to appear as active, the HTML formatting of the item must be defined with the proper HTML reference tag. This is considered a Complex HTML function.
If the message is sent to another Entourage user, the hyperlink appears as expected because Entourage can display Complex HTML. In addition, the hyperlink is displayed correctly in any other mail client that supports these properties.
