Disk Signature Is Changed and the Disk Is Inaccessible to the Cluster (295300)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP1
This article was previously published under Q295300 SYMPTOMS
A disk signature may be changed. When this occurs, the Clusdisk tool cannot manage the disk.
CAUSE
The query for DiskSignature does not work and returns zero (even though the disk contains a valid signature). However, the query sets a new signature on the disk. When the cluster nodes try to compare the on-disk signature to the value that is stored in the registry, they do not match and the disk cannot be used. On Fibre Channel multiple-node clusters, several nodes may stop working at the same time.
