ACC2002: Text That You Paste into the Search Text Box of the Task Pane Is Placed on a Data Access Page (295271)

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

When you paste text into the Search text box of the Task pane while you have a data access page open, the text is placed on the page.

RESOLUTION

Instead of pasting the search text, type the search text into the Search text box.

Undock the Task pane, and then use CTRL+V to paste the text into the Search text box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Start Microsoft Access.
  2. On the Help menu, point to Sample Databases, and then click Northwind Sample Database.
  3. In the Database window, click Pages under Objects, and then click New.
  4. In the New Data Access Page dialog box, click Page Wizard, click the Employees table in the Choose the table or query where the object's data comes from box, and then click OK.
  5. On the first page of the Page Wizard, add the EmployeeID, the LastName, and the FirstName fields to the Selected Field list, and then click Finish.
  6. On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Notepad.
  7. Type This is a test in Notepad.
  8. On the Notepad Edit menu, click Select All, and then click Copy.
  9. Return to Access, and then on the Edit menu, click Select Page.
  10. On the File menu, Click Search.
  11. Click in the Search text box of the Task pane.
  12. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  13. Note that "This is a test" is placed in the title text of the page.
