ACC2002: Continuous Alerts in an Access Project File When You Close a Table in Which You Made Design Changes to a Subdatasheet (295240)

SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Access project (.adp), you may be forced to save your changes to a subdatasheet of a table when you make modifications to the size of that subdatasheet. If you click No when the Save Changes dialog box appears, you are continuously prompted until you click Yes to save your changes.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, do one of the following:
  • Click Yes when you are prompted to save changes, and then go back to the subdatasheet, and change the setting back to the original setting before you resized the subdatasheet.

    -or-
  • Resize the subdatasheet just slightly so that the difference in subdatasheet size is not noticeable, and then save the changes.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Start Microsoft Access, and then open an .adp file that contains a table with a subdatasheet, for example, Categories or Products in NorthwindCS.adp.
  2. On the Format menu, point to Subdatasheet, and then click Expand All to make a change to the master table Extended properties.
  3. Adjust the column width of a column in the subdatasheet.
  4. Close the table.
  5. Note that you receive a prompt asking you if you want to save the changes.
  6. Click No to All

    Note that after you click No to All, you are prompted continuously until you click Yes.
