This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

When you copy and paste a table in a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) or an Access project (.adp), the new table does not include permissions from the original table.

RESOLUTION

Assign permissions manually in the new table.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Install the NorthwindCS sample project to your SQL Server.
  2. Open NorthwindCS in Enterprise Manager.
  3. Right-click the Customers table, and then click Properties.
  4. In the table property sheet, click Permissions, and note that there are permissions set for the table.
  5. Open NorthwindCS in Microsoft Access.
  6. Copy and paste the Customers table.
  7. Return to Enterprise Manager, and note that there are no permissions set.
