SYMPTOMS

If you have been enabled for wireless services in Mobile Information Server (you are "wireless enabled"), if you try to access a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server mailbox by using Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access, you may be prompted for credentials repeatedly on your wireless device, and the following event ID messages may be logged in the Mobile Information Server Application event log:

Event ID: 32
Source: Mobile Information Server
Category: None
Description: Integrated Authentication encountered the following error: The token passed to the function is invalid.

-and-

Event ID: 41
Source: Mobile Information Server
Category: None
Description: HTTP Authentication processing failed with error: The token passed to the function is invalid.

-and-

Event ID: 14
Source: Mobile Information Server
Category: None
Description: Processing HTTP connection authentication, encountered the following error. The token passed to the function is invalid.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you have only used an Outlook Mobile Access client computer to log on to the Exchange 2000 mailbox; you have never used any other client to log on to the mailbox.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, create a mailbox object in the Exchange 2000 information store. To do so, log on to the mailbox by using an Exchange Server client, Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA), Microsoft Outlook 97, Microsoft Outlook 98, Microsoft Outlook 2000, Microsoft Outlook 2002 or by using any Internet Message Access Protocol 4 (IMAP4) or Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) mail client software.

NOTE: This issue is not resolved when someone sends you a message.

After you have successfully logged on, you are able to access your mailbox by using Outlook Mobile Access.
