Cannot Connect with RDS If You Belong to Many Groups (294827)

This article was previously published under Q294827 SYMPTOMS When you are using NetMeeting 3.01, you cannot connect to a
server that is running NetMeeting 3.01 with Remote Desktop Sharing (RDS)
enabled if you are a member of many groups. When this occurs, you are
repeatedly prompted to authenticate. CAUSE This problem occurs because a buffer that is used to return
the results from a call to GetTokenInformation is not large enough to hold the results. RESOLUTIONA
supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to
computers that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this
problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. For a

WORKAROUND To work around this behavior, reduce the number of groups
to which you belong. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION This is a post-SP2 full release of NetMeeting 3.01. You can
install this release only on the operating systems that are listed at the
beginning of this article.
The version number for this post-SP2
NetMeeting 3.10 version is 4.4.3396. The version number is identical to
NetMeeting 3.01 SP2. You can use the time and date stamp to differentiate
between the versions.
Prior to installing this version, you can use
the digital signature properties to differentiate between the Nm30.exe file for
SP2 and the Nm30.exe file for this fix. The digital signature for the the
post-SP2 build of the Nm30.exe file is Tuesday, April 03, 2001, 3:43:37
PM.
Note Windows 2000 should not have this problem because the code where
the problem existed in Windows 98 and Windows NT does not exist in Windows
2000.
