Exchange Information Store Is Not Restarted after Failed Exchange Event Source Installation (294813)

SYMPTOMS

When you install the Exchange Event Source component of Mobile Information Server on an Exchange 2000 Server computer, you must stop the Information Store service (the service under which the Exchange Server databases are run). If the Exchange Event Source installation fails or is cancelled, a rollback procedure is initiated. However, when the rollback procedure is performed, the Exchange Server Information Store service is not restarted.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, restart the Exchange Information Store manually:
  1. Click Start, click Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. In the right pane, right-click Microsoft Exchange Information Store, and then click Start.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
