OL2001: Error When You Import Outlook 8.x Schedule File (294649)

If you try to import calendar data to Outlook 2001 for Mac from Outlook for the Apple Macintosh version 8.x, you may receive the following error message:
The file you selected is either not valid or has an older version number.

This error message can occur because you are trying to import a native Schedule Plus File format. Outlook 2001 for Mac uses the Outlook Calendar Interchange formatted file when you import this way.

Use the following steps to create and export an Outlook Calendar Interchange file:
  1. Start the Outlook 8.x installation.
  2. On the Outlook toolbar, click Show the Calendar.
  3. On the File menu, click Export, and then click Outlook Calendar Interchange
  4. In Export Outlook Calendar Interchange, browse to a location for the exported file. Type a descriptive name for the exported file, and then click OK.
