OL2001: A Time Separator Is Required to Create Appointments (294601)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q294601 SYMPTOMS
When you save appointments that are not marked as All Day Event in Outlook 2001 for Mac, the following error message may occur:
You must specify a valid time.
The error message appears even if you supplied a correct time by using the drop down menu that is provided in the Appointment dialog box, or if you entered a time by using the same format that is used in the Date and Time Control Panel.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because a time separator is required to create time restricted appointments in Outlook 2001 for Mac.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, add a time separator in the Date and Time Control Panel. To do this:
- Quit Outlook 2001 for Mac and any other programs that are open.
- On the Apple menu, click Control Panels, and then click Date and Time.
- Click Time Formats.
- In Format, enter a character in the Separator field. Typically, a colon (:) is used to separate minutes, hours, or seconds. Any character can be used, including the space bar.
- Click OK, and then close the Date and Time control panel.
You can create appointments with a start and end time when you restart Outlook 2001 for Mac.
