OL2001: The Domain Password in Outlook Is Not Case Sensitive (294562)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q294562 SYMPTOMS
When you log on to a Microsoft Exchange Server by using Outlook 2001 for Mac, your password is not case sensitive
Note This behavior also affects File Level access when you use Apple Chooser to access Macintosh Shares on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Outlook 2001 for Mac does not use the NTLM (Microsoft Windows NT challenge/response) to authenticate its password because of a different implementation of the NTLM standard that is used by Outlook 2001 for Mac. Passwords that are sent using NTLM password authentications require correct casing of passwords.
