SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to preview a clip, you may see one of the following error messages in the preview box in the
Preview/Properties dialog box rather than a preview of the clip.
The file ClipFileName is located on a disk, program, which is unavailable.
where
ClipFileName refers to the file name of the clip you want to retrieve and
program refers to the compact disc for either of the following programs:
Microsoft Office XP Media Content
Microsoft Office XP Media Content Deluxe
If you try to copy the clip, you receive one of the following error messages:
The file ClipFileName is located on a CD-ROM, a floppy disk, or a removable disk drive. To access the clip, please insert program into your drive and then click OK.
To search for the clip in a different location, click Browse.
where
ClipFileName refers to the file name of the clip you want to retrieve and
program refers to the compact disc for either of the following programs:
Microsoft Office XP Media Content
Microsoft Office XP Media Content Deluxe
CAUSE
This can occur if you performed a standard (
Install Now) installation from either the Microsoft Office XP Media Content or Microsoft Office XP Media Content Deluxe compact disc. When you choose the
Install Now Setup option, the clips are not copied from the compact disc onto your hard disk. However, the catalog files (cntcd1.mmw or cntcd2.mmw, respectively) are copied to your hard disk. These files are copied to the following locations:
path\Microsoft Office\media\cntcd1
path\Microsoft Office\media\cntcd2
WORKAROUND
You can install all of the clips from each of the compact discs; however, this will require more than 500 megabytes (MB) of hard disk space. To install all the clips, follow these steps:
- Insert the compact disc into the CD-ROM drive.
- On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Add/Remove Programs. In the list of installed programs, select the program you want to install, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Add or Remove Features and then click Next.
- Click Clips and then click Run from my Computer. Click Update.
All the clips will be installed onto your hard disk.
