FIX: Resource Does Not Failover Immediately if an Error is Encountered by the Resource DLL (294415)

SYMPTOMS
When you run SQL Server 2000 on a cluster, you may see a change in behavior when SQL Server encounters a problem in the resource DLL during service startup. The startup problems may be due to the absence of resource or authentication failures. In either case, the resource fails over only after the online pending timeout is reached. Previously, the resource would fail over immediately.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the

The problem has been fixed so that the fail over occurs immediately if the resource DLL encounters service startup failures.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
