SUMMARY

This article describes the My Music folder in Microsoft Windows XP, and how to create a playlist of personal sounds.

MORE INFORMATION

When Windows Explorer recognizes a sound file, the Play All option is displayed in Windows Explorer. If you enable the Play All option, Windows Media Player starts and:
  • It imports all of the sound files in that folder into the Media Player for Windows XP playlist.
  • It automatically plays the sound files.
If you do not want Windows Media Player for Windows XP to play all of the sounds in that folder, press the CTRL key, and then click the various sound files that you want to hear to have Windows Media Player for Windows XP import only the selected files into the playlist.

A playlist contains one or more sounds and indicates the order in which to play them in Windows Media Player for Windows XP.

You can rearrange the playlist in Windows Media Player for Windows XP by using the drag-and-drop operation to rearrange the files.

To play a selected sound during the playback of a current sound file, double-click the sound file that you want to hear.

To save a playlist, on the File menu, click Export Playlist to File. The file in the playlist is actually a shortcut to the sound file, so it is not a large file.

The My Documents folder contains the My Music and My Pictures folders by default.
