XCCC: You Receive an 80040100 Error If You Join an Online Conference If You Are Using a Netscape Web Browser (294283)

SYMPTOMS

If you are using a Netscape Web browser and you join an online conference, you may receive the following error message:
The Conferencing Server can not automatically join you to this conference. You will need to manually connect your conferencing client, such as Microsoft NetMeeting.

Error #80040100: Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server

CAUSE

This issue may occur if a conferencing resource that contains the Data Conferencing Provider and Video Conferencing Provider is H.323-enabled. In this situation, if you are using a Netscape Web browser to join an online conference, you do not receive a message that prompts you to start NetMeeting. Therefore, you automatically join the conference and you receive the error message that is described in the preceding section.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, manually start NetMeeting, and then join the online conference.

If this conferencing resource is not H.323-enabled, you receive the following message if you are using a Netscape Web browser to join the online conference:
To be invited into the data conference, start Microsoft NetMeeting or another T.120 client, and then click OK.
