Visio2002: Warning Message When You Attempt to Edit Visio Web Site Map Embedded in Office Program (294096)

When you attempt to open and edit a Microsoft Visio Web site map drawing that is embedded in a Microsoft Office program (for example, a Microsoft Word document or a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet), you may receive the following message:
This file was created or modified by an earlier version of Visio, or was altered without the Web Diagramming solution active. The document data has been updated to match the diagram.
This message is displayed regardless of whether or not the Web site map diagram in Visio is active.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, click OK on the message, and then continue working in your document. The functionality of Visio is not affected by the message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.

When you embed Visio data in another program, it becomes part of the other program's file. When you edit the data, you edit only the version that is embedded in the other program.
Embed Visio shapes and drawings into another program if you want to keep all the data that you want to work with in one file, or if you want to transfer the file to other computers.
