Visio2002: Some Features Unvailable When Visio Is Set to "Installed on First Use" (294007)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Standard
  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional

This article was previously published under Q294007

SYMPTOMS

The following components may be displayed as Not Available in the features tree:
  • Add-ons (U.S. units) Database Wizard
  • Graphics Filters
  • Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you perform a custom installation of Microsoft Visio, and you configure Visio for the Installed on First Use installation state. The Installed on First Use installation state is not a supported option for the Database Wizard, Graphics Filters, and Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications components. When Visio is set to Installed on First Use , Setup automatically selects the Not Available option for these components.

RESOLUTION

If you want to install the Database Wizard, Graphics Filters, and Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications features, set Visio to the Run from My Computer installation state.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Visio Setup.
  2. Type the appropriate user information in the Welcome to Visio Setup dialog box, and then click Next.
  3. Click I accept the terms of the License Agreement, and then click Next.
  4. Click Customize.
  5. In the Install Visio at box, install to the default location or specify a location that you want, and then click Next.
  6. In the Features box, click the down arrow next to Visio, and then click Run from My Computer.

Note that the Database Wizard, Graphics Filters, and Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications are now displayed as Run from My Computer.
  7. Click Install.
