Visio2002: Visio File Open Dialog Box Appears Instead of the Dialog Box from Open Docs ODMA (293966)

SYMPTOMS

When you click Open on the File menu, the Open dialog box from Visio appears, instead of the dialog box from your Open Document Management API (ODMA) program, such as Docs Open by PC Docs.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you are using the Microsoft Windows 98 or Windows NT operating system.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, copy the Odma.dll file from the ODMA software folder to the Windows system folder, and then restart Visio. To do this, follow these steps.

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Quit any programs that are running on your computer.
  2. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
  3. Type odma.dll in the Named box, and then click Find Now.
  4. Right-click the ODMA.DLL file in the ODMA software folder, and then click Copy on the shortcut menu.
  5. Right-click the Start button, and then click Explore.
  6. In the Folders list, scroll down, and then expand the Windows (or WinNT) folder.
  7. In the Folders list, scroll down, and then click the System folder.
  8. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  9. Restart Visio.
