XL97: EUROCONVERT Function Returns #NAME? Error (293868)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the EUROCONVERT function in Excel, you receive the #NAME? error.

CAUSE

The Eurotool.xla add-in is not supplied with the version of Excel listed at the beginning of this article.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.

The EUROCONVERT function can do the following:
  • Convert a number to euros.
  • Convert a number from euros to a euro member currency.
  • Convert a number from one euro member currency to another by using the euro as an intermediary (triangulation).
The currencies available for conversion are those of European Union (EU) members that have adopted the euro. The EUROCONVERT function uses fixed conversion rates that are established by the EU.
