FIX: Problem When You Save Project 98 File to Oracle Database on the German or Japanese Version of Windows 2000 (293858)

SYMPTOMS

If you try to save a Project 98 project to an Oracle database using an ODBC data source name (DSN) and the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver on a computer that is running the German or the Japanese version of Microsoft Windows 2000, you receive the following error message:
ORA-1026 Multiple buffers of size greater than 2000 in the bind list.
This problem does not occur on computers that are running the German or the Japanese version of Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, nor does it occur on computers that are running the English version of Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Data Access Components 2.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Follow these steps on a German or Japanese installation of Windows 2000:
  1. Open Project 98.
  2. Create a new project.
  3. On the File menu, click Save.
  4. Click ODBC, and select the DSN for Oracle.
