The following list provides information about the
values that should appear in place of the question marks in the preceding
sample error messages. Note that only the original (and latest) versions of the
redirector file (Vredir.vxd) are documented. Exception address values may vary
on your computer if you have installed updates that are not listed. Also, the
list is not guaranteed to be comprehensive, as not all redirector updates have
been exhaustively tested for this problem. However, fault addresses tend to be
near those that are documented:

In the preceding table, Windows 98 SE is used to represent
Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, and DSClient is used to represent
Directory Services Client. Note: The problem described in this article has not been tested with
Microsoft Windows 95. Note that the Directory Services Client can be installed
on a Windows 95-based computer. CAUSE This problem can occur because when files are repeatedly
opened and closed by using identical share modes, the redirector (Vredir.vxd)
loses track of internal file-tracking structures, and erroneously schedules
system events to close and deallocate file structures that have already been
processed. RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site: Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question. The English version of this fix
should have the following file attributes or later:
