BUG: CAB File Version of MDAC Installation Package Is Not Available for MDAC 2.1 SP2 (293785)

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.1 provides a CAB file version of the installation package. However, the CAB file version of the installation package is not available in MDAC 2.1 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

This problem pertains only to MDAC 2.1 SP2 and does not appear to effect other MDAC versions.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use the MDAC 2.1 SP1 CAB package instead. MDAC 2.1 SP2 is binary compatible with MDAC 2.1 SP1. If users have an older version of MDAC, their version is upgraded to MDAC 2.1 SP1. If users have a newer version, they continue to use that version.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
