FIX: Remote Partitions Require Remote Servers to Run Under OLAP Administrators Account (293612)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services
This article was previously published under Q293612
BUG #: 12148 (plato7x)
SYMPTOMS
The new remote partition mechanism in Analysis Services requires that every remote server be able to connect back to the parent server. Because the server uses Microsoft Windows NT authentication, the remote servers must all run under a domain account that has full access rights to the master cube.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (the Analysis Services Components - Sql2kasp1.exe). For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the

290211 INF: How to Obtain the Latest SQL Server 2000 Service Pack
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services version 8.0. This problem was first corrected in the Analysis Services Components of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.MORE INFORMATION
When a remote partition is created on a local server that has SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services Service Pack 1 installed, the remote server must use a domain user account that has full access permissions to the parent cube on the local server. Any user account that is a member of the OLAP Administrators group on the local server has full access permissions. This requirement is documented in the SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services Service Pack 1 Readme.txt file.
