Arabic text with letter-by-letter animation overlaps or becomes unreadable in PowerPoint (293476)

- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
This article was previously published under Q293476 SYMPTOMS
If you animate Arabic script in Microsoft PowerPoint, the text may appear distorted, overlapped, or repositioned by the animation, and become unreadable.
CAUSE
Letter-by-letter animation in Microsoft PowerPoint is not suited toward the Arabic style of writing. In Arabic words, most letters join the preceding and following letters, with a few exceptions. PowerPoint handles each letter as a separate entity during letter-by-letter animation. When animating Arabic script letter-by-letter, the joining places between the letters are temporarily broken while the animation processes the letter, and then the letters rejoin as the animation moves to the next letter.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, avoid letter-by-letter animation in slides that contain text written in Arabic script. Try an alternate animation effect.
