Clip2002: Search Returns Improper File Type or No Results (293424)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Clip Organizer 2002
This article was previously published under Q293424 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Clip Organizer, when you search for a clip file or file type, the wrong type of file may be returned, or you may receive no results for your search criteria.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because one or more of the check boxes in the Results should be box under Other Search Options is cleared.
One or more of the check boxes may have been cleared if you restricted the search parameters at some previous time and you did not re-select the check boxes that you cleared after the search was complete. Clip Organizer "remembers" any changes that you make to the Results should be and the Search In check boxes so that you can set a favorite search scheme and use it every time that you use Clip Organizer.
This behavior is consistent with that of the Microsoft Office XP Basic Search task pane.
RESOLUTION
In Clip Organizer, when you are ready to search for clips, note the settings in the Other Search Options area. If the text in the Results should be box does not say All media file types, follow these steps:
- Click the arrow in the Results should be box.
- Click to select the check boxes that you want.
If the text in the Search In box does not say All Collections, follow these steps:
- Click the arrow in the Search In box.
- Click to select the check boxes that you want.
