OL2000: The Hyperlink Is Not Available in a Message When It Follows a String of Double-Byte Characters (293397)

SYMPTOMS

When you type at least 512 double-byte characters in a message, including spaces and line feeds, and then add a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) link, the URL link appears as ordinary text and is not available.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Office 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, include at least one ASCII character in each group of 512 double-byte characters.
