Error Message May Occur If You Install Services for Macintosh (293181)

SYMPTOMS

If you install Services for Macintosh, you may receive the following error message:
Setup cannot add the print processor for the Print Server for Macintosh. Macintosh workstations will be unable to print postscript jobs to a non-postscript printer on the Windows NT server network.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if there is a corrupt registry key from a previous installation of Services for Macintosh.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this issue:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32).
  2. Delete the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Print Processors\SFMPSPRT

  3. Restart the server.
  4. Reinstall Services for Macintosh.
