FIX: BCP with Format File and -R Parameter Ignores Regional Settings (293155)

SYMPTOMS

The command line BCP utility that is included with SQL Server 2000 ignores the -R parameter when you use a format file. The -R parameter specifies that currency, date, and time data is bulk copied into SQL Server using the regional format defined for the locale setting of the client computer. By default, regional settings are ignored.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.

The following command ignores the -R parameter, and ignores the regional formats:

BCP pubs..tablename in datafile /Sservername /Uloginid /Ppassword /fformatfile -R

However, this command does not ignore the regional formats:

BCP pubs..tablename in datafile /Sservername /Uloginid /Ppassword  -R
