Parent Domain May Not Receive Partial Replication of a Child Domain After a Cross-Domain Move (293108)

SYMPTOMS

Replication may not work after you use Movetree for a cross-domain move of an organizational unit that contains a user, and you may receive the following error message:
The replication update could not be applied because either the source or the destination has not yet received information regarding a recent cross-domain move operation.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the parent domain (which acts as a global catalog) cannot replicate the partial replication of the child domain when you move an organizational unit that contains a user from a parent domain to a child domain.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
