SYMPTOMS

When you sort the mail items in your Inbox by conversation thread, some items in the sorted view may appear out of order.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the conversation index is based on when a mail item is sent, not on when you receive it. A delay in delivery places an item out of order.
