OL2002: Opening and Deleting an Attached Meeting Request from Within Message Causes Crash (292968)

SYMPTOMS

When you attach a meeting request to a message and then open the request from within the message, Outlook 2002 stops responding (crashes) when you try to delete the meeting request.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if Microsoft Word is set as the default e-mail editor and you drag the attachment into the message.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, either turn off Word as the default e-mail editor or close the message before you delete it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
