The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q292964

SYMPTOMS

When you add an address in the Subject line of an Outlook message, and the address contains one or more spaces, only a portion of it appears as a link. If the address is an Outlook Web link, clicking it generates the following error message:
Unable to display the selected folder or item
If the address is an Internet link, clicking it generates the following error message:
The page cannot be found

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the active hyperlink path is not the complete path.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, put angle brackets around an address that contains spaces. For example:

<outlook:Sent Items>

<http://myweb/business partners>
