SYMPTOMS

When you try to drag a note to your Windows desktop from your Notes folder, you may receive the following error message:
Cannot create or replace Desktop: There is already a folder with the same name as the file name specified. Specify a different name.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because the note contains more than 214 characters.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This same problem can occur when you attempt to drop a note anywhere on your file system.
