OL2002: Error When You Select an Outlook Folder That Has Hotmail Set As the Home Page (292889)

SYMPTOMS

When you select a folder with http://www.hotmail.com set as the home page in Outlook 2002, you may receive the following error message:
Unable to display the folder.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you are logged on to Hotmail and the Keep me signed in to this and all other Passport sites, unless I sign out option is selected on the Hotmail Web site log on screen.

RESOLUTION

WORKAROUND

Use the following steps to work around this problem:
  1. In your Microsoft Internet Browser, navigate to http://www.hotmail.com.
  2. Click Passport Sign Out.
  3. In Outlook, click a different folder, and then return to the folder with Hotmail set as the home page.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
