OL2002: Outlook Does Not Detect an Invalid URL When You Save a Calendar As a Web Page (292871)

If you enter an invalid Uniform Resource Locator (URL) when you save a calendar as a Web page, Outlook 2002 attempts to save the calendar to the invalid network location until you receive the following error message:
The Operation Failed
Until the error message appears, it may seems as though Outlook is performing the upload normally because it prompts you for the correct username and password to save to the URL.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because Outlook 2002 does not verify the validity of the URL before it attempts the upload.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, enter a valid URL.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
