This article discusses a Beta test product that is not yet announced or released publicly by Microsoft. Please feel free to familiarize yourself with this product, test it, and report problems to Microsoft.

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor to compose a new message that is addressed to a Hotmail account, the message appears in Microsoft Internet Explorer with double-spaced paragraphs in the message body when it is received.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you compose the message using Word as your e-mail editor, and when the message is formatted in either Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) or Microsoft Outlook Rich Text format (RTF). This problem does not occur if you use RTF or HTML as the message format without using Word as your e-mail editor, or if you use plain text format.

WORKAROUND

The recipient of the message can work around this problem by using Microsoft Outlook Express or Outlook 2002 when they synchronize with their Hotmail account. You can work around this problem by not using Word as your e-mail editor when you send messages to a Hotmail recipient.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
