How to Use the Mobile Users Snap-In with Microsoft Mobile Information Server (292793)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
- Microsoft Mobile Information Server 2002
This article was previously published under Q292793 SUMMARY
This article describes how to and when to use the Mobile Users snap-in that is included in the Support\Tools folder on the Mobile Information Server compact disc.
With this tool, administrators of Mobile Information Server can search Active Directory for all mobile users. Mobile users refer to those user accounts who are currently, or have at one time, been enabled for wireless access through the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in. You can perform searches by Organizational Unit (OU) and you can run the searches for OUs in any domain in the current forest, or by connecting to a domain controller in another forest in which you have permissions.
Because the attributes of Mobile Information Server are not indexed in Active Directory, the amount of time that it takes for the search to complete depends a number of variables, such as:
- The number of objects in the selected OU or container.
- The traffic or performance (or both) of the Global Catalog (GC) server that you are searching.
- The network traffic and/or network performance.
In addition, if you query a forest other than the local forest, this may extend the amount of time that it takes for the search to complete.
