SUMMARY

This article describes how to use the UserWiz tool that is included in the Support\Tools folder on the Mobile Information Server CD-ROM.

MORE INFORMATION

You can use UserWiz to automate the creation of Windows 2000 Active Directory test user accounts. In addition, you can use UserWiz for the following tasks:
  • To create Exchange Server mailboxes.

NOTE: For UserWiz to create Exchange Server mailboxes, the Exchange System Manager must be installed on the computer that is running the UserWiz tool.
  • To create and provision Mobile Information Server devices automatically if you use the Integrated security topology.
  • To enable users for Server ActiveSync use (available regardless of security topology used).
This tool helps you test Mobile Information Server deployments.

To install UserWiz, run UserWiz.msi from the installation folder. It is recommended that you install the program on a server in the forest in which you want to create users in. You can choose any domain in the forest when you run the program.

To create test users:
  1. Click Start, click Programs, and then click UserWiz to start UserWiz.exe.
  2. Click the domain in which you want to create the users, and then click OK.

NOTE: To expand the domain list, click the root domain that is displayed.
  3. Click the container in which you want to create the users, and then click OK.

NOTE: To expand the container list, click the domain that is displayed.
  4. To create Exchange Server mailboxes, click Config (next to Exchange Mailboxes), click the mailbox store that you want to use, and then click OK.
  5. To provision Mobile Information Server devices, click Config (next to Mobile Information Server devices), click the settings you want to use, and then click OK.

NOTE: To turn either Exchange Server mailbox creation or Mobile Information Server device provisioning off, after you have enabled these options, click Config again, and then click Turn Off.
  6. After you have configured the options under Step 3: Options, click OK.
  7. Type the number of test accounts to create.
  8. Type the prefix for the test user accounts; for example, if you type the name "TestUser," the users are created with user names of "TestUser1," "TestUser2," "TestUser3," and so on.
  9. Enable the users for Server ActiveSync access if you want. (When you do so, you add the user to the MIS Mobile Users group.)
  10. Type a password for the test accounts if you want.
  11. Click or clear the User must change password at first logon option, and then click OK.
  12. When you are prompted, confirm that the settings are correct, and then click Begin Task to create the user accounts.
  13. Click Done after the accounts are created.
