STS: Multiple JavaScript Execution Error Messages When You Use the Opera Web Browser (292704)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Opera 5.0 Web browser to view a SharePoint team Web site, you receive multiple JavaScript execution error messages similar to the following:
A script on this page failed to execute. This may keep the page from displaying or functioning properly.

URL: http://server name/_vti_bin/ows.js
When you click OK, the Web page appears.

After you receive multiple errors, Opera may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because, at this time, the Opera Web browser does not fully support all of the JavaScript functionality used by SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, turn off JavaScript error reporting. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Opera 5.0.
  2. On the File menu, click Preferences.
  3. In the Preferences pane, click Plugins.
  4. Under JavaScript, click to clear the Report JavaScript errors check box, and then click OK.
