This article was previously published under Q292701

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Self-service Site Creation (SSC) add-in to create a subweb in a Web site based on SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft, you may receive the following error message:
The page cannot be found.

The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its
name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you use double-byte characters, such as Asian language characters, in the Script Directory Name box when you enable Self-service Site Creation on a virtual server.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use only American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) characters in the Script Directory Name box when you enable the SSC add-in on a virtual server.

The Name box is found on the Enable Self-service Site Creation page, which appears when you click Manage Self Service Site Creation (SSC) in SharePoint Team Services Site Administration.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION
