The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q292698 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Form Page Wizard, you may be unable to type alphabetic characters in the Enter the name of a variable to hold this answer box, even though you are able to type numbers and punctuation symbols in this box.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you are using a non-English keyboard layout. Scripting features, such as the FrontPage Form Field Validation feature, require ASCII characters for form field names. Therefore, the Form Page Wizard restricts the characters that can be used.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, select an English keyboard layout to type text in the Form Page Wizard.
