SBS 4.5 Fax Server Cannot Send Fax with Empty Message Body (292618)

When you try to send a fax from Microsoft Outlook on Small Business Server (SBS) 4.5, the fax message does not get sent. You can briefly see an error message in the Fax Printer spool, but the modem never dials. No Event Viewer warnings or error messages are logged. If e-mail notification is turned on, you do not receive any notification of the fax either being successfully sent or otherwise.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the message body in Outlook 2000 is blank. It is not possible to send a message with only a subject field and no message body with the SBS 4.5 Fax Server component.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, insert a single space in the message body when you send the fax to allow the Fax Server component to send the message as expected.
STATUSThis problem was corrected in Microsoft Small Business Server 2000.
