Missing Tabs on the Configure MA Form After You Convert an XML Management Agent (292603)

This article was previously published under Q292603

SYMPTOMS

You can convert an XML mangement agent (MA) that you created with the XML and File Toolkit to a typical Compass-controlled MA by using the Xmlmac.exe tool. After you use this tool to convert an MA, some of the tabs that you access to configure the MA are missing.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Metadirectory Relationships and Personal Names tabs on the form are not enabled during the conversion. When you use the XML and File Toolkit Wizard these setting are made within the wizard itself. However, after you convert the XML MA by using Xmlmac.exe, you can no longer use the wizard to edit the MA. If you need to make changes to the MA, such as the anchor attribute, you have to use the Compass tool. To successfully use the Compass tool to make MA modifications, edit the formset for the converted MA through the Forms Designer tool first.

RESOLUTION

To enable the Metadirectory Directory Relationships and Personal Names tabs in the Configure MA formset:
  1. Install the Directory Forms Designer from the default folder Zoomserv\Data\HTTP\Cabs\Fdv2.exe, and then start Forms Designer.
  2. On the Formset menu, click Open, and then click From Directory.
  3. Click the XML management agent in the Use the Drop Down to Select a Form box (this will be in the form of a domain name), and then click Open.
  4. Log on as an administrator.
  5. In the Properties dialog box, click maconfig.frm in the Use the Drop Down to Select a Form box, and then click Edit.
  6. Right-click the form, and then click Properties.
  7. In the Tab Text box, click Metadirectory Relationships, click Enable/Disable, and then click OK; by doing this, you are removing the (;) semi-colon in front of the Metadirectory Relationships.
  8. Repeat the above procedure for all of the tabs that you would like to make visible.
  9. On the Formset menu, click Save. After you save the formset, you receive the message "The formset has successfully saved."
  10. Click OK, and then quit Forms Designer.
