SYMPTOMS

A Microsoft Visual J++ COM+ server application may stop responding when multiple clients are running concurrently.

CAUSE

The Visual J++ COM+ components are deadlocked during COM+ activity synchronization.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.

This problem occurs with apartment-threaded Visual J++ COM+ server components. If you change the threading model to "Both," a memory leak occurs instead of a deadlock.
