OFFXP: Unable to Select a Menu Item by Using a Voice Command (292466)

SYMPTOMS

When you are using one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article and you try to use a voice command to select a menu item, the menu item is not selected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you attempt to use a voice command to select a custom menu item.

Voice Command mode cannot be used to select custom menu items. This includes menu items that are created by Office XP add-ins.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use the mouse or a keyboard shortcut to manually select the custom menu item that you want.

MORE INFORMATION

When you customize a menu by adding existing menu items to that menu, you can select those menu items with voice commands. However, when you add a custom item or when an add-in creates a menu item, you cannot select it by using a voice command.
