SYMPTOMS

When you assign an ActiveX control like the Microsoft Forms 2.0 CommandButton to a layer and change the setting in the Layer Properties dialog box to Invisible, the ActiveX control may remain visible and continue to appear in the drawing.

In addition, the control may not be activated as expected with a mouse click.

RESOLUTION

To work around these issues, switch to Design Mode and then back to Run Mode after you change the layer visibility property.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

With normal shapes, you can click to select or clear the check mark in the Visible column of the Layer Properties dialog box, and the shapes will be hidden or visible when the check mark is cleared or selected, respectively. ActiveX controls may not follow the visible rules that are set in the Layer Properties dialog box until you select Design Mode and then switch back to Run Mode.
