The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q292439 SYMPTOMS When you install Microsoft
Exchange 2000 Server
or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 on a computer, you
may receive the following error message: Setup failed installing sub-component information store service with error code x007007e - please consult installation log. The following error message may be
reported in the Exchange Server Setup Progress.log file:
[00:00:01]Interpreting line Register DLL:C:\Program
Files\Exchsrvr\bin\drviis.dll
[00:00:02]CInsParser::ScProcessLine

(RegisterDLL:C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin\drviis.dll)
CInsParser::ScProcessLine (K:\admin\src\libs\exsetup\hiddenw1.cxx:486)
CAUSE This behavior can occur if the Setup program is unable to locate the
Exstrace.dll file. RESOLUTION To resolve this behavior, transfer a copy of the
Exstrace.dll file into the Windows NT System32 folder, and then click Retry. STATUSThis
behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATION The Exstrace.dll file is installed with some components of
Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) and Network Monitor. When these
other services or programs install the file, the file moves into the Inetinfo
folder and not into the System32 folder. During the Exchange
computer installation, Regsrve may not be able to locate the Exstrace.dll file
because of the location of the file.
