The following error message may be reported in the Exchange Server Setup Progress.log file:

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Setup program is unable to locate the Exstrace.dll file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, transfer a copy of the Exstrace.dll file into the Windows NT System32 folder, and then click Retry.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

The Exstrace.dll file is installed with some components of Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) and Network Monitor. When these other services or programs install the file, the file moves into the Inetinfo folder and not into the System32 folder. During the Exchange computer installation, Regsrve may not be able to locate the Exstrace.dll file because of the location of the file.
