SUMMARY

Service Pack 1 (SP1) for the Pocket PC is the first maintenance release by Microsoft for the Pocket PC. SP1 contains a number of previously released hotfixes and new Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer security fixes. SP1 does not include any new features, or user interface changes. SP1 is a collection of fixes that are primarily for Pocket Internet Explorer. SP1 for the Pocket PC is for the Pocket PC only; do not install it on any other type of Windows CE-based device.

Microsoft recommends installing this service pack only if you browse the Web or a corporate intranet, or if you are experiencing network connectivity problems.

Note for iPAQ Users

If your iPAQ 3600-series Pocket PC has been updated with ROM image 1.69 or later, do not install SP1 for the Pocket PC because your device already contains these fixes. To determine the version of your ROM image:
  1. Tap Start, tap Settings, tap System, and then tap Asset Viewer.
  2. Click the Plus tab next to Version.
  3. If the ROM revision is 1.69 or later, you do not need to install SP1 on your iPAQ.
Service Pack 1 is available at the following Microsoft Web site:
